SAM operates autonomously, collecting and reporting using data gathered direct from the customer’s network. The entire process is hands-off, so the results can be trusted by both MSP and client.

Key metrics are measured as frequently as every 40 seconds – and the result of each test is logged in the SAM database. You or your client can check and verify these results to ensure that contractual SLA calculations are being completed correctly.

No matter which metrics are being measured, calculating business SLA compliance should be simple. But it’s not. Service Availability Manager – SAM – automates the process of collecting, collating, calculating and reporting performance against contractual obligations.

Using a dedicated probe, SAM collects raw data direct from the network. These measurements are analysed against your pre-configured SLA criteria in real time to provide an up-to-the-minute compliance attainment.

SAM will also email daily compliance reports automatically, so you can monitor trends. As SAM highlights potential breaches, you can assign resources intelligently to carry out the necessary work to prevent them.

At the end of the reporting period, SAM will automatically calculate the relevant business SLA compliance scores. Using your preconfigured criteria the system will even calculate applicable support credits to be issued to the customer – including those that use sliding scales according to the severity of the breach.

WHAT SAM IS

Using dedicated network probes, SAM discretely monitors network traffic and conditions according to your pre-defined SLA compliance criteria. The system has been designed for maximum flexibility, allowing for the deployment of multiple probes, controllers and databases to ensure information accuracy and availability.

SAM supports multi-domain, multi-site networks including native/hybrid cloud environments. No matter how complex your client’s infrastructure, we can configure a SAM deployment to capture and analyse SLA-related traffic data.

WHAT SAM IS NOT

SAM is not a replacement for your network management tools. It has been designed to be a valuable addition to your existing monitoring toolkit. In fact, by integrating with popular tools like SolarWinds and Network Node Manager, SAM unlocks additional value from your existing investments.

Your management tools are used to control network activity, SAM monitors and records key metrics of interest. SAM will highlight potential network issues, but you still use your existing tools to fix them.
